Publishing learning resources to NTU's learning repositories

Select the resource to be published

  1. Ensure the resource you want to publish has been added to the Content area of a NOW learning room.
  2. Go to the learning room content area which contains the resource
  3. Click the Publish to Learning Repository icon to the right of the topic or unit that you want to publish (or at the top of the list to publish the whole content area).
  4. Double-check that the title and structure of the resource is correct without any spelling errors
  5. Choose where to publish to by selecting a repository from the Destination repository drop-down list.

Make your resource findable by adding metadata

  1. Click Edit Metadata to add details about the resource such as author, description and key words
  2. Complete the fields as follows - * An asterisk indicates this is a compulsory field
  3. Title: Name given to the learning resource being published 'Capitalise' the first letter e.g. Module handbook
  4. Description: A text description of the learning resource that you are publishing to provide your vision and context for use.
  5. Keyword(s): A keyword or phrase describing the subject area/areas of the learning resource being published. Separate a phrase or different keywords with a semi-colon.
  6. Role Author: Select author in the drop down list.
  7. Name: The name(s) of the author(s) of the learning resource being published Please enter the surname followed by the forename separated by a comma. e.g Bloggs, Jo. Separate each author's detail with a space e.g. Bloggs, Jo Smith, Jane
  8. Learning Resource Type: Select an appropriate educational type that characterises the learning resource being published. Select from the drop down list.
  9. Copyright Description: The copyright owner for the learning resource being published. In most cases this will be Nottingham Trent University if the author is an employee of NTU.
  10. Select from the drop down list.
  11. When you have completed the metadata, click on Save and click Next
  12. Ignore any warnings on the next screen.

Publishing your learning resource

  1. Confirm that the expected files are included in the resource, for example if you are publishing an entire unit, check that all the topic files are listed.
  2. Click Publish
  3. A progress bar will appear briefly, followed by a 'Publishing Complete' confirmation screen.
  4. Your resource is now in the learning repository.
