Inserting a weblink to audio, video or images

Where you do not have rights to reuse a file, or the file size is too large to upload to NOW, you can link to the external website where the video, image or audio file is published from within your content.

  1. From within the Content are, click on New Topic and select Create New File or edit an existing topic by clicking on the edit icon (orange pencil) next to its name.
  2. In the HTML Editor click where you want to the link to appear.
  3. Click on the Insert Quicklink icon (this is on both the Basic and Advanced tab).
  4. Use the Category drop-down list to select URL.
  5. Enter or copy and paste the web address (URL) for the image, video or audio into the Url: text box in the Link Details area, ensuring there is only one http:// at the start.
  6. Type a Link Caption. This is the text the reader will click on to access the tool.
  7. As this is linking to an external site, select New Window
  8. Click on Insert to add the link to your content
  9. Once you have finished editing the web page click Save.
