Inserting an image

To insert an image into a web page in NOW:

  1. Start by clicking on New Topic in the Content area and select Create New File or edit an existing topic by clicking on the Pencil icon next to its name.
  2. In the HTML Editor, click where you want the image to appear.
  3. Click on the Insert an image icon (this is on both the Basic and Advanced tab).
  4. Click the Browse button to find the image on your computer or Learning Room Files on the left if the image has already been uploaded to the learning room.
  5. When you have found the image, click Upload or Select File.
  6. You will then be asked to provide alternative text (Alt Text) for the image. This is important if the image contains information and the text added here should reflect that. If the image is purely decorative then tick This image is decorative. More advice can be found at the Guild of Accessible Web DesignersOpens in new window.
  7. Click OK.
  8. The image will appear in the HTML Editor.
  9. When you have finished editing the web page, click Save.

Resizing an image in the HTML Editor

To resize an image:

  1. Start by creating a new web page as a topic or clicking on the Edit Pencil next to the web page topic you want to change.
  2. Insert the image using the steps above or select the image in the HTML Editor.
  3. White squares will appear in the corners and at the side of the image.
  4. Click and drag the corner square to resize the image. This is the most effective way of not stretching or squashing the image so it still look s in proportion.
  5. Once you have finished editing the web page click Save.
